Sample: William Albert Staats '50 died on Jan. 1, 2009. A native of San Jose, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1942, served in the Pacific, and was discharged Valentine's Day 1946. After graduating from SCU, he joined Bank of America, from which he retired after 39 years in 1989. In recent years he enjoyed travel to such places as Italy and the Galapagos Islands. He was an avid nature photographer, sports fan, and chef. He was also an active member of Saint Martin's church and treasurer of the Santa Clara Valley Bank of America Retirees' Club. He is survived by his wife, Jean; and son, Eric.
